Charlie Havens, Apple Certified System Administrator, ACSA
BACKGROUND–
Charlie has been managing outsourced IT systems for Chicago nonprofits since 1999.
If you are looking at your Apple systems or mixed platform environments in terms of
- Next year’s technology budget
- Total cost of operation and ownership
- Replacing and acquiring assets
- Staff training
- Re-evaluating the scope of your technology systems in light of organizational mission
then Charlie Havens is the person to go to and to consult with.
Charlie’s college degree was in social work. Later he had acquired significant IT training. And so he brings a unique perspective to nonprofit organizations that need to integrate technology needs with mission. Because he has Apple Computer, Sonicwall, CompTIA, and related technical credentials as well as membership in the Apple Consultant Network, one could say that Charlie knows. Put Charlie’s years of experience in the nonprofit world and in small business management to work for you.
Charlie understands the mission of social good that nonprofit organizations possess. He understands how their technology and systems are grown, are used, and must serve. He is active in Net Squared and NTEN. These are organizations of tech people and social change people who come together to help “grow more technology savvy social change organizations that benefit our local communities.”
Over 20 years, Charlie has owned and operated small lodging facilities, a property management business, and a computer consultancy. He has experience in marketing. He moved his own businesses from print media to the Web. Now he also helps organizations learn how to use social media to communicate their mission.
Charlie will work with you to
- Design robust wireless networks that have multiple client capacity and large coverage
- Tutor and mentor your on-site tech guru with hands-on support
- Install and maintain client machines and their servers
- Develop / maintain / test backup systems
Charlie translates what he is doing into plain English. He approaches his work understanding how to use technology for the organizational mission of social good.
Charlie talks about what excites and motivates him.
